Outside

I felt the evening sun; a blanket across the sky.

The world enjoyed it’s warmth as the day began to die.

The lake’s breath was gentle; soothing; living.

It shared it with the deer that drank. Life – forever giving.

Life was among the park, with the dogs that play.

It was among the birds as well,

as they flew away.

I watched as the wind blew a kiss toward the trees.

I watched as the flowers lent their honey to the bees.

I watched as the clouds gave their shade to us all.

I watched as the mountains gave it back, standing tall.

I watched it all beyond the glass, staring at the sky.

Then picked up my pen and tried to write,

but could only wonder – why?
